Abstract Ths study attempted to define the role of the glutaraldehyde test in the prelrminary diagnosis of tuberculosis, for that 1404 patient and 100 control cases were subjected for the gularaldehyde test.Patients were classdied into the following groups.a) Pulmonary tuberculous group (6 1 3) patients.b) Extra pulmonary tuberculous group (23) patients.c) Non tuberculous respiratory diseases (600) patients.d) Other non respiratory hseases (168) patients.Follow up was carried on for (188) patients they were selected fiom the pulmonary tuberculous group.a) Pulmonary tuberculous .Group: (6 73) patients Sputum was obtained fiom (500) cases, bronchal lavage fiom (96cases and pleural efision from (17) cases.from sputum samples (419) cases were positive by direct smear 255) and culture (1 64).from bronchal lavage samples, (39) cases were positive dxect smear and (16) cases were positive by culture. |
