Abstract The plain chest radiograph remains the initial radiological procedure of choice for studymg diseases of the thorax. Apical lung zones are still considered somewhat difficult areas to be studied by plain film alone. This is because of overlying bony structures produced by clavicle and upper ribs. This gave the impetus to study the apical lesions by conventional tomography and CT scan to overcome the limitations of plain film in this area of complex anatomy. This study was carried out on 40 patients presenting with apical lung lesion detected by plain chest radiograph. Our patients were thirty two males and eight females with their ages ranged from one year to sixty five years Our aim of work was to study the role of conventional tomography and CT scan in evaluation of apical lung lesions. The patients were subjected to complete clinical examination, plain chest radiograph, conventional tomography, and chest CT scan. |
