Abstract
In the N i l e Delta of Egypt, there are many heavy %extured, low permeable sof 1s. Problems of these aoi3.s were taken i n t o consideration to increase the crop production. There for, the present Investigation was carried out to study the suitable drainage and subeoiling technique to improve the physical and hydrological properties of the heavy terrt;ured low permeable oils, The study was under adequate and inadequate dfafnage 8ystems and different subsoiling teohnf que especially a good hydraulic conaeotim between either surf ~cleay er s o r channels r e s u l t i n g from eubsoiling and pipe dralna, The selected site is locaeed a t the experimental f a r m of Sakha AgriculturaSL Reaeerroh Station in the Middle Northern part of Nile Delta of Egypt, Three drainage spacing8 were tested t o repreeent the adequate and inadequate draiaageS ayatems. Distanoe .of 15 m between tiles naa uonsidered a8 adequate and compared ’ w i t h 40 m and 40 m apart ( the 40 m is recomrneaded by Egyption Public Authority for Drainage Project8 EPADP ). Three subsciliag treatmsots were cerrisd out’under 15 m apacfng between tiles of 1.5 , 3 and 5 rn be%ween ohannels at 45 cm depth, On the other hand, the 1.5 m between channels wens teated u~dert h e 30 and 40 m spaoing t r e a t - msn0s3 at 45 om depth with and without hydraulio consnection,
