Abstract The present work deals with some reactions of thiophene-2- carbohydrazide I When I was condensed with carbon-disulfide in ethanolic potassium hydroxide the potassium - dithiocarbazate was formed which on treatment with hydrazine was cyclized to N-amino-2- mercapto-l,3,4-triazole II Interaction of compound llwith acid chlorides led to the formation of the corresponding amide followed by ring closure to give the s-triazole derivatives Ill When compound II is subjected to react with phenacyl bromide in the presence of fused sodium acetate the cyclized compound V was obtained , while carrying out the reaction without sodium acetate the uncyclized compound IV was only obtained. |
