Abstract This investigation was carried out to study the effect of different nitrogen levels, sources and methods of application, on growth, yield and yield components of rice plants in addition to the contents of N,P,K in rice shoots. Also, to study the effect of N-fertilization on the content of soil total nitrogen and the changes in some chemical characteristics of paddy soils. Field work was conducted at El-Hamoul district, Kafr El-Sheikh governorate, during 1988 and 1989 seasons using rice variety IR 28. The experimental design was split-split plot with four replicates. The mean plots were randomly assigned to three nitrogen fertilizers sources (urea, ammonium nitrate and ammonium sulphate), and the sub-plots to five nitrogen levels. The five nitrogen levels were zero, 20, 40, 60 and 80 kg N per faddan. The levels of nitrogen were divided into two doses, the first dose was added two weeks after transplanting and the second was added after 45 days from transplanting. |
