Abstract
The present thesis comprises f i v e chapters, the contents are subdivided i n t o introduction, experimental and r e s u l t s and discussion. The study aims to throw some l i g h t on the ~ctual s t a t e of some azodyes based on salicylaldehyde and then corresponding azome thine and hydrazone derivatives. Based on t h i s , the possible i n t e r a c t i o n i n d i f f e r e n t organic solvents is investigated. The study is c a r r i e d out using absorption spectrophotometry i n the uv and v i s i b l e region i n solvents of d i f f e r e n t p o l a r i t i e s . Also, the infrare.d s p e c t r a a s we l l as 1H nmr a r e utiliaed i n t h e s tudy of the s t r u c t u r a l c o r r e l a t i o n s o f t h e s e compounds. I n chapter1,a l i t e r a t u r e survey is given on the spectrophotometric studies of some derivatives of azo benzene, azome thine and azohydrazone dyes. In chapter 11, experimental d e t a i l s f o r the preparation of the s o l i d compounds, solutfons, p u r i f i c a t i o n of solvents are given. The apparatus used and working procedure are also discribed.
