Abstract
This s t u d y i n c l u d e d 28 o f f s p r i n g of p a t i e n t s with premature M I b e f o r e t h e age o f 50 y e a r s and 28 h e a l t h y c o n t r o l s . Cases were d i v i d e d i n t o two groups a c c o r d i n g t o a g e ; group I - A (aged 4 - 15 y e a r s ) and group 1 1 - A (aged 16-39 y e a r s ) matched t o c o n t r o l groups I-B and 11-B r e s p e c t i v e l y . They were e v a l u a t e d f o r CAD. B e s i d e t h e thorough c l i n i c a l examination i n c l u d i n g ECG, t h e f o l l o w i n g fnvestiga~,ionsw e r e p e r f o rme d f o r b o t h t h e c a s e s a n d t h e c o n t r o l s : 1. F a s t i n g and two h o u r s p o s t - p r a n d i a l blood s u g a r . 2. Serum ievels of triglycerides, t o t a l c h o l e s t e r o l , EDL-C and HDL-C. 3. Serum l e v e l s o f a p o l i p o p r o t e i n A , and B . I n b o t h groups I - A and 1 1 - A apo A1, HDL-C and apo A,/ apo B r a t i o were s i g n i f i c a n t l y low w h i l e apo B , LDL-C, t o t a l c h o l e s t e r o l / HDL-C and LDL-C/ HDL-C:.were s i g n i f i c a n t l y high a s matched t o c o n t r o l s . T r i g l y c e r i d e s were e l e v a t e d only i n t h e s e c o n d g r o u p . Moreover, c a s e s w i t h normal LDL-C showed l e v e l s o f apo B h i g h e r t h a n t h e mean of c o n t r o l s u b j e c t s .
