Abstract
It is known that laennec gave cirrhosis its name form the Greek word kirrhosis (tawny), But the eponym Laennec’s cirrhosis is realy used now.O) cirrhosis of the liver shows a world wide distribution and affects all races, ages and both sexes. It is a common problem, especially in our Egyptian patientsX Cirrhosis is defined anatomically as a diffuse process with fibrosis and nodule formation. It has followed hepato-cellular necrosis. Although the causes are many, the end result is the same The W.H.O. has defined cirrhosis as ”a diffuse process characterized by fibrosis and the conversion of normal liver architecture into structurally abnormal nodules
