Abstract Helicobacter pylori (H. Pylori), aspiral micro-aerophilic organism, colonizes the gastric mucosa and may be causaly related to gastritis and peptic ulcer disease111.The prevalence of Helicobacter pylori in appearently healthy individuals shows marked geographic variation, with a high prevalence in developing countries13’41. Factors contributing to gastric mucosal colonization are not very clear, but the spiral shape of the organism, its ability to produce urease, and its microaerophllism offer its survival advantages in the gastric mucosa151.Abnormalities of the microcirculation of the gastric mucosa have been described to portal hypertension161 and are refected in a hypoxia of gastric mucosa*71. |
