Abstract Chronic renal failure results from progressive loss of functioning nephrons. During the process of nephron loss, the surviving nephrons undergo adaptation that alter their secretory, reabsorptive and metabolic functions so as to maintain relative constancy of internal environment (Le. intact nephron hypothesis). |
