Abstract
The genetic materials used in the present study included five cultivars of cucumber viz. PI 4.25170, PI 418964, Poinsett, Marketmore 76 and Beit Alpha, the common cultivar grown in Egypt. All the five cultivars are belonging to the speciecs Crlcumis sativus. Plants from each cultivar were selfed for three generations to ensure the purity of the parents before initiation of the study. The genetic materials included five parents, 10Fi, hybrids 10Fl reciprocal hybrids, 10F2 generations and two commercial hybrids wide1.y spread in Egyptian cultivation at the present time (Aniera 11: and Sweet Crunch) as a chec!c cultivars. All 37 genotypes were evaluated at the Experimental Farm at Kafr El-Sheikh, Faculty of Agriculture during the summer season of 1990 in a randomized complete block design experiment with three replications. The data were obtained on mean plot basis for each character in each genotype and subjected to Griffing’s diallel analysis to estimate G.C.A., S,C.A, and reciprocal effects. Heterosis and inbreeding depression were also estimated. Moreover, llayn~an’s diallel. analysis was also used to get some informatian of some genetic parameters and some useful ratioes.
