Abstract
This s t u d y was c a r r i e d out a t t h e Sakha P o u l t r y Product i o n Research S t a t i o n , Animal P r o d u c t i o n R e s e a r c h Intitute, Kafr E l - S h e i k h , M i n i s t r y of A g r i c u l t u r e . Two l o c a l s t r a i n s (El-Salam and Banarah) were used i n t h e p r e s e n t s t u d y . The aim of t h i s i n v e s t i g a t i o n was t r y i n g t o improve t h e body weight of t h e c r o s s b r e d , which produced from t h e two s t r a i n s by t h e s e l e c t i o n i n t h e pure p a r e n t s s t o c k s on t h e b a s i s of t h e c r o s s b r e d and a l s o t h e pure l i n e i n f o r m a t i o n . The male p a r e n t s i n both s t r a i n s were s e l e c t e d f o r high body weight of t h e i r progeny i n t h e c r o s s b r e d a t 1 2 weeks of age, w h i l e t h e dams s e l e c t e d f o r b e t t e r feed e f f i - c i e n c y (gm feed/gm egg) of t h e i r p a r e n t . The c o n t r o l , f o r both s t r a i n s were kept under t h e same e n v i r o n m e n t a l c o n d i - t i o n s .
