Abstract Radiology remains the most convenient and readily available method of assessing the oesophageo-gastric region for hiatal hernias, gaztro-esophageal reflux, and other lesions in this region of the upper gastrointestinal tract. The study of the gastro-esophageal reflux has received a new diginity in last few years. The world of reflux now includes beside radiologist, physiology, and nuclear medicine. The radiologist must be aware that, reflux oesophagitis which is commonly associated with sliding hiatal hernia can be a very debilitating condition. It seems that, damage to oesophageal epithelium will occur when a long enough time is allowed for refluxed contents to remain in contact with mucosa. |
