Abstract Intrathecal morphine provides good pain relief of great power and duration. Unfortunately the use of spinal morphine, even in small doses, is often associated with unpleasant side effects such as urinary retention, prunns, nausea and vomiting.Haloperidol, a dopamine antagonist, was employed for prevention of cancer chemotherapy induced emesis. Also haloperidpl was used for treatment of nausea and vomiting associated with the treatment of intractable migraine headache.Non fcf the currently used prophylactic antiemetic regimens are entirely successful, metoclopramide has been, thought to be an effective antiemetic by some investigators; others have considered its capacity to prevent postoperative emetic sequelae as questionable . |
