Abstract Administration of streptokinase resuits in thrombolysis and reperfusion of the occluded caronary arteries. arteries. In a high proportion of patients with evolving myocardial infarction previous streptococcal infection have been shown to produce antibodies that cross react with, and neutralise streptokinase. Streptococcal infection in the community are common in Egypt (endemic area of streptococcal infection), and probably also in other tropical countries. This would result in higher anti streptokinase titre in the general population which, in turn, may necessitate a higher dose of streptokinase for thrombolysis, so we surveied 100 Egyptian patients with acute myocardial infarction in first 6 hours of chest pain. And there was additional 20 persons were taken as control groups. |
