Abstract

The objective of t h i s investigation is to study the e f f e c t of some c u l t u r a l p r a c t i c e s v i z N , Zn , P and plant o r i e n t a t i o n on cotton growth analysis and attributes,yield and its components and f i b e r quality.Two s e r i e s of experiments were carried out at Gemeiza Agricultural Xesearch Station Farm , Agricultural Research Center , Ministry of Agric. during 1986 and 1987 . In the f i r s t s e r i e s , a s p l i t plot design w a s used where the 3 nitrogen levels i.e. 60 , 75 and 90 Kg / fad. were randomly allocated to the main plots and the seven zinc treatments to the sub plots.ln %Bp second series,a s p l i t split plot design was used where the two plant& orientation were randomly allocated t o the main plots , the three zinc treatments ( 0, 1 and % ) to the sub plots and the/ four P spraying times( i,e. control , Pveg , Pfl. and %eg+ f l . ) to the sub plots , Growth analysis and a t t r i b u t e s were studied at four growth ages , wherease yield and its components and f i b e r quality at mature stage . The r e s u l t s obtainedaresummarized as follow . Part I Effect of Nitrogen l e v e l , Zinc Application Method and Concentration on Cotton Growth Analysis and Attributes, Yield and its Components and Fiber Quality . I. Growth Analysis and Attributes : 1,A.Growth Analysis : 1.A.I. Dry matter accumulation : A por;itive relationship between N level and this criterion6as found at all plant ages except at age of 12) and 142 days i n 1986 . Also , zinc treatments increased s i g n i f i c a n t l y the values of t h i s trait except at plant ages of 104 days in 1986 and at 85 and 142 days in 1987 .
