Abstract
The experiments were carried out at the farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Taflea University, Kafr El-Shiekh during the early and late swnmer seasons of 1975. and 1977. The objective was to study the effect of planting date and sprays with ethrel, kinetin and ethrel + kinetin on growth and productivity of cucumber plants. Ethrel was used at concentration of 100 ppm whereas kinetin was used at 5 ppm. Spraying has been carried out twice at the 2 - 4 and 4 - 6 true leaf stages. Results are summarized as follows : 1- -Veg-et a-t-i--v-e growth : Ethrel and ethrel + kinetin treatment s decreased plant length and had no significant influence on each of number of nodes, number of leaves and lateral branches, Kinetin sprays increased plant height, number of lateral branches, number of nodes on the laterals and had no signigicant influence on number of nodes on the main stem. Kinetin sprays and ethrel, either applied alone or with kinetin, increased dry matter content of the leaves md stems.
