Abstract
A comprised review of the h i s t o r i c a l evolution of our knowledge of dwarf tape worm was f u l f i l l e d . A brief account on the l i f e cycles, epidemiology, morphology, pathology of Hymenolepis nana as well as the development and structure of c y s t i c e r c i were also Merit ioned . The avilable l i t e r a t u r e concerning the drugs used for treatment of a l l cestodes was reviewed. However, it was noticed t h a t old drugs have many adverse e f f e c t s and so cannot be used repeatedly. Mebendazole was screened against Hymenolepis nana Infection in man and in mice and i n v i t r o e f f e c t on decapsulated cysticercus bovis.
