Abstract Soil mites are numerically dominant arthropods especially oribatid mites .Many studies proved that these animals play an important role in realsing nutrients into the soil where they become alailable to plants .Like other living organisms these animals are affected by the physical and biotic factors in their environment and at the same time they affect on the soil habitat .It was also proved by considerable researchs that some oribatid mites act as intermmediate hosts for some parasitic worms that infect cattles and sheeps .Because of the importance of these animals many investigators studied the Biology ,the Taxonomy and the Ecology of these animals .The study of these animals (soil mites )have begun recently in Egypt. The aim of this study to investigate the Ecology and taxonomy of soil mites in some orchard ecosystems at Kafr-El-sheikh Governorate and also to investigate the effect of some ecological factors on the durations of life cycle of dominant species in the loboratory .To study the ecology and taxonomy of these animals ;twenty soil samples were collected at monthly intervals for a period of an year from four different orchards(D).citrus orchard recently cultivated(1-5 years ago ),( A). citrus orchard(more than 20 year),(C) |
