Abstract Cardiovascular diseases and its associated risk factors have been shown to occur more frequently among diabetics than non diabetics.Juvenile diabetic patients clearly have more atherosclerotic plaques and higher frequency of atherosclerotic events than non diabetics of similar age and sex, likewise adult-onset diabetics have severe atherosclerotic events than non diabetics of similar age and sex, moreover, both types of diabetics have higher serum total and low density lipoprotein cholesterol. So Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is atherosclerotic risk factor. |
