Abstract The wall of the pear-shaped uterus consists of three layers. The perimetrium is the outer serosal layer of mesothelial connective tissue. The myometrium is the middle layer of smooth muscle that appears as two distinct layers when viewed by magnetic resonance imaging. The endometrium along the inner (luminal) wall is a complex layer that can be subdivided into two interdigitating anatomic components - the stroma and the glands(1). |
