Abstract
This study was carried out on 30 patients with hepatosplenic schistosomiasis, 20 of them are HBsAg positive and the remaining 10 are negative. The schistosomal nature was proved by presence of Schistosoma ova in stool or rectal snip biopsy and abdominal ultrasonography for the presence of periportal fibrosis, the chronic HBsAg antigenaemia was chosen on the basis of the presence of HB,Ag in the serum for more than 6 months.The aim of this work is to correlate the hepatocyte HBsAg expression with the liver pathology.The patients were subjected to : Full history taking with stress on, past history of schistosomiasis or its treatment especially the parenteral one,past history of jaundice, dental visits, blood transfusion and operations. Thorough clinical examination. Stool analysis for detection of Schistosoma ova. Rectal snip biopsy for those who are negative for Schistosoma ova in the stool.
