Abstract Rousettus aegyptiacus breeds all the year around, while Rhinoporna hardwickei. Taphozous perforatus, Taphozous nudiventris and Pipistrellus kuhli breed only once a year. In the testes of Rousettus aegyptiacus, there is a moderate number of Leyding cells (Interstitial cells) during all the years, which reach their climax in July. In Taphozous perforatus a decrease in size of interstitial cells occurs in September till the renewal of sexual activity from March till June. In the former bat. the reason may be due to the ability to be active along all the seasons of the year, while microchiroptera gonadotropin is influenced by weather conditions. of the accessory glands, the prostate and Cowpers’ glands are present in all investigated bats. The ampullae of Henle are present only in all the microchiropterous bats. while urethral glands could not be seen in all the studied bats. |
