Abstract The etiology, pathophysiology and management of pre-eclampsia are subjects of persistant controversy. Nowadays there is circumstantial evidence that prostaglandins may be of importance in the etiology or manifestations of pregnancy induced hypertension. In this work the aim was to evaluate the effects of continuous intravenous infusion of PGAj (high fixed dose for a period of at least 24 hours except if labour occurred before this period) plus intra-cervical PGE2 gel in severe pre-eclampsia and to compare this with termination of pregnancy by primary Caesarean section. |
