Abstract Schistosomiasis is a wide spread disease, being primarily a problem of developing countries, in Egypt it is a major health problem (Mohy El-Dine, 1978). Schistosomal hepatic involvement may occur with all species of human schistosomiasis but is especially severe with S.mansoni (Warren 1982). The characteristic hepatic lesion of schistosomiasis is a non cirrhotic portal fibrosis which produces progressive occlusion of portal venules with resultant presinusoidal portal hypertension (Elwi 1976). |
