Abstract

Generally, the present thesis consists of three chapters : Chapter 1 includes an introduction and background about the meaning of pure and safe water, the water cycle, main sources of water, some properties of water, health hazards of some inorganic chemical contaminations on potable water. General methodological aspects of water analysis concerning the stripping voltarnrnetric techniques and the atomic absorption spectroscopic technique are considered. This chapter also includes a literature survey on the application of the different stripping voltammetric techniques in water trace analysis. Chapter 2 is the experimental part. It includes the sampling (type of sample containers, cleaning of sample containers, samples collection and storage), preparation of standard and reagent solutions, instruments used in the determination of physical parameters, anions and cations and also the procedures of analysis and measurements. Chapter 3 includes three main parts : The -first part includes optimization of the different experimental (supporting electrolyte) and instrumental (deposition potential, deposition time, scan rate and pulse amplitude) conditions for the simultaneous determination of the eleven elements (Cd, Pb, Cu, Sb, Bi, Se, Zn, Mn, Ni, Co and Fe) using the stripping voltammetric techniques in the differential pulse modes (anodic, cathodic and adsorptive) and then suggesting a new scheme for the simultaneous determination of these eleven elements in any environmental samples. Also the optimal experimental and instrumental conditions.
