Abstract The objectives of the present i n v e s t i g a t i o n are: a) To find the t r a c t o r engine brake power needed f o r ploughing operation under local conditions. b) F e a s i b i l i t y of a comprehensive method t o predict t h i s power u s i n g a n e x i s t i n g mathematical model. -. c ) Deriving a new mathematical equation f o r cone index f o r the local u t i l i z a t i o n . To achive t.his goal three t r a c t o r s of d i f f e r e n t powers ranging from 30 t o 79 HP (22.39 - 58.96 kW) were used. Three d i f f e r e n t c h i s e l plough widths ranging from 1.0 t o 1.8 m were used. Every t r a c t o r w a s attached with the proper plough s i z e t o execute the ploughing operation through two ploughihg passes. Ploughing operation w a s performed at three l e v e l s of s o i l moisture content kanging from (14.29 - 28.84% w/w) on a heavy s o i l texture with clay r a t i o of about 40.96%. The field experiments were earried out at SaEha farm- Kafr EL-Sheikh Governorate, Ministry of Agriculture. |
