Abstract
The effects of eguipotent concentration of halothane, enflurane and isoflurane on isolated human and dog uterine muscle have been evaluated. The concentrations of anesthetics used were as follows, halothane 1%, enflurane 2.5% and isoflurane 2%. Sixty human myometrial strips were obtained at operation from 15 non gravid and 20 gravid uteri, and also sixty dog myometrial strips were obtained after laparotomy from 10 gravid and 15 non gravid dogs. The myometrial strips were immediately placed in Lockets solution and bubbled with 100% oxygen for 15 minutes, then transported to the laboratory in an ice-cold Lockets solution.
