Abstract

-Four Coleopterous insect pests and two Lepidopteraous were collected from twomedical and aromatic plants storage located at Dakahelia Governorate. These insects pests were Lasioderam serricorne, Stegobium paniceum, Trogoderma granarium, Tribolium castaneum, Tribolium confusum, Cryptolestes ferrugin, Plodia interpunctella and Sitotroga cerealella. 2- There was significant difference in the ability of different life stages of S. paniceum to survive high temperature. The percent mortalities after 7 h, at 42oC recorded for pupae, adults, eggs, old larvae, young larvae, respectively. 3- The susceptibility of S. paniceum to low temperatures also was effected by developmental stage, the cold tolerance of different stages from highest to lowest at 0oC was; adult > old larva = young larva > pupa = egg. 4- DE, pea protein, methoprene and pyrethrin were compared for their toxicity and reduction in offspring production for L. serricorne and S. paniceum. The percentage of mortality was 100% at 1000, 1000, 30, 500 ppm DE, pea protein, methoprene and pyrethrin. There were over 80% reduction in offspring production of adults occurred. 5- There was no difference between the species or between jute and polyethylene, but there were differences between insecticides. Ranking for toxicity from highest to lowest was; DEET, pyrthrin, methoprene, pea protein and DE respectively.
