Abstract Conventional MRI techniques are considered anatomy based imaging techniques that have been used frequently for localization and identification of lesions in the complex area of head and neck including nasopharyngeal lesions. However, it’s still unsatisfactory for early detection of tumors, detection of small lesions and differentiation between lymphoma and Squamous cell carcinoma. The determination of ADC by diffusion-weighted imaging is an effective adjunct to MR imaging-based diagnostic differentiation between nasopharyngeal lymphomas and nasopharyngeal carcinomas with different histological types. Additionally, diffusion-weighted imaging is of great help in cases in which repeated biopsy results may still not provide definitive information to the clinician. and may be suitable for treatment monitoring during and after radiotherapy, potentially influencing patient management. DW MRI is still carrying ADC overlaps specially between benign and malignant lesions and needs more widespread applications and well trainings to get more optimized results. |
