Chapter 1 addresses the historical development of the pre-tertiary education as to the number of schools, classrooms and the students as well as the number of teachers and administrators from 1970 to 2008. Chapter 2 is dedicated to the distribution of schools and classrooms over the various regions and districts of the sultanate as well as the demographical distribution of schools and classrooms according to administrations, stages and their types and the evaluation of demographical distribution. Chapter 3 provides an account of the pre-tertiary education students in terms of their distribution over schools and their distribution over the various stages according to their gender. This chapter also focuses on density distribution of the students registered in schools to demonstrate the geographical differences among the administrative departments. Chapter 4 focuses on the teachers and administrators in the pre-tertiary education in terms of evaluating distribution of administrative staff over departments of schools and teachers, classrooms and registered students. The chapter also refers to administrators in terms of their distribution over the various departments and the organizational structure of schools followed by an evaluation of the number of students per school registered in the schools. Chapter 5 is a survey of the factors affecting the distribution of schools and registered students in terms of demographical characteristics and density followed by a look at the demographical development and if it is proportionate with the number of schools and students. It also deals with the transportation system and its impact on the distribution of schools and students, and the governmental policies represented in the five-year developmental plans for the pre-tertiary education. Chapter 6 provides insights regarding the future of pre-tertiary education from the needs to school, classrooms, students and teachers for the period from 2010 to 2025.
