Abstract

Microcontroller Based Speed and Current Control of PMDC Motor Drive has been implemented and experimentally investigated. Simulation and experimental results have been presented to verify the stability and tracking performance of the proposed drive in the first quadrant operation. A laboratory model of DC motor drive was successfully implemented using MCU PIC16F876A and tested. The circuit consists of the power circuit which contains, AC power supply, single phase bridge rectifier, power transistor (MOSFET of 2SK1358), RC snubber circuit protection is designed to protect the power switch and the load (PMDC motor). Also a control circuit which contains thermocouple temperature sensor of type J (additional reference speed), potentiometer (main reference speed), speed and current measurement using operational amplifier LM 324, microcontroller unit of 16F876A and optocoupler of PC 817. (LCD) is used to display the different variables inside the system such as speed, temperature, current and the status of the motor. Simulation and results of one application of variable frequency AC drive have been presented. The results of different cases (normal operation, outage of power supply, load transient and voltage flicker) are applied on the proposed AC drive to overcome the problem of power interruption at the critical loads and obtain a pure sine wave at different cases.
