Abstract This investigation was undertaken to study the effect of cane Dec., Def. and B.S.R. on bud dormancy out and under plastic covering in Roumi Ahmer grapevines. Morever, the effect of pruning dates on bud dormancy, maturity, yield and fruit quality was also included. The result obtained could be summarized as follows : A- Out plastic concerning bud dormancy : 1- Defoliation of shoots gave the highest signification number of the broken buds compared with the other treatments used. 2- Contrary to effect of Def., decapitation (Dec.) alone or combined with defoliation gave the least number of the broken buds. 3- Both Dec. and Def. delayed bud breaking and the Dec. alone delayed bud breaking by about 10-14 days later than (Dec.+ Def.+ B.S.R.). 4- The most pronounced effect on bud burst was obtained as a result of (Dec.+ Def.+ B.S.R.). 5- With all practices, the first three basal buds gave no breaking. While most of the broken buds were in the top region of the cane (from the fourth to the eighth bud.). |
