Abstract
Study aimed to study effect of nursing strategy used in third stage of labor on control primary postpartum hemorrhage. This study was conducted at labour unit of El-mansoura general hospital. The total sample represented one hundred women this number of cases represents 20% of the annually total number of women admitted in labour room of the maternity department. These women were divided into two groups, 1st group were receiving the routine management of third stage of labor (expectant management), 2nd group were receiving the nursing active management of third stage of labor. The study design was quasi experimental and sample type is convenient non random sample .Five tools of data collection were used included: a structured interviewing questionnaire sheet, shley apparatus, pictorial chart, standard measuring jar, and follow up sheet. The main result of the study revealed active management is superior to expectant management in terms of blood loss, post partum hemorrhage, shorting length of third stage of labour. So this study recommended that active management of third stage of labour should be the routine management of choice for women expecting to deliver a baby by vaginal delivery in a maternity hospital.
