Abstract The present study aimed at investigating the effects of a suggested computer strategy training program on developing EFL preparatory school pupils’ reading comprehension. A checklist of EFL reading comprehension skills was prepared and EFL reading comprehension test was built to be used as a pre/post test. The researcher administrated the test on two experimental groups and on a control group. Each group consisted of 34 female pupils at the second year of the preparatory stage. A program was developed by the researcher to develop reading comprehension in the two experimental groups. Then, the first experimental group studied by the computer strategy training program, while the second experimental group studied by the strategy training program without the use of computer. The control group studied the same course through the usual method. It was taught over a period of three months. At the end of the experiment, the pupils of the three groups sat again for the EFL reading comprehension test. Results showed that there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the first experimental group and the mean scores of the control group in favour of the first experimental group in the post application of the test. Also, there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the second experimental group and the mean scores of the control group in favour of the second experimental group in the post application of the test. Moreover, there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of first experimental group and the second experimental group in favour of the first experimental group. |
