Abstract This work is concerend with the experimental study of thermal neutron flux distributions in a new type of heavy concrete of density 4.6 gm/cm3. The concrete medium under investigation was made from Egyptian ilmenite ore, mixed with iron punchings, portland cement and water. Measurements were also carried-out in concrete medium pierced with straight cylindrical air filled ducts having different lengths and diameters to study the perturbation in the distribution of thermal neutron flux due to the presence of these ducts. |
