Abstract Two computer programmers were constructed by using expert systems to help in overcoming some problems which the producers face in rice production in both planting and harvesting operations such as : increasing the production costs, shortage of labor and high grain losses. The first programme is concerned with the different seedbed-planting systems. Three common systems of seedbed-planting were considered in this respect. The mechanical transplanting which contains chiseling, paddling by rotary plow then transplanting by a mechanical transplanted. The mechanical drilling which contains chiseling, dry leveling by scraper then drilling by a seed drill. The manual transplanting which contains chiseling, paddling by rotary plow then manual transplanting by workers. The second programme is concerned with the different harvesting techniques. Four harvesting techniques were considered : using sickle + thresher, reaper + thresher, rice combine and general combine. Different working areas, different straw moisture contents ( crop lodging) and different rice varieties were introduced in the study. The aim of the present work was to make an economical comparisons between different mechanization systems for producing rice crop, the optimum selection of farm machinery sizes, the ability to make decision concerning mechanical rice production at different circumstance, and also to provide its users with the recommendation and advice concerning production management in Egypt. |
