Abstract
TIle prescnt study was conuucted at Sikha Expcrimcntal Station,
Animal Produchon Research Instilute , Ministry’ of Agriculture during the
period from December. 1998 t0 April.1999.
Twelve Fnesian bulls were used to evaluale the effect of procted
protein on growlh and rcproducive performance pf Fries ian bulls..
Fomlaldehyde-treated CFM (1% on the basis of CP’) was used in two
levels (50 and 1000%.) in rations of Priesian bulls as the following.
Treatment 1 (contro l). 1 00% untreated CFM + fresh berseem + rice straw
(0%. TCFM).
Treatment 2: 50%UCFM+50%TCFM+fresh berseem + rice straw (50%
TCFM)
Treatment ) : 100% TCFM + fresh berseem + rice straw ( 100% TCFM).
The obtained results concerning tbe growth performlnceeou could
be summariud as the following :
( I)Live body weight and feed efficiency were not effected significantly by
feeding bulls on TCfM compared to the conlrol, however average
daily gain was significantly (P<O.O5) higher only for bulls fed 100%
TCfM
(2)Feeding bulls on 100% TCFM resutled in significantly (P<O.O5) lower
corcentration of VFA in rumen liquorr, being 14.5 meq/ lOO ml as
comppared to the control (18.2 meq./1 00ml).
