Abstract

Tomato lycopersicum esculentum and eggplant solanum melongena. L. fruits are an important vegetable crops in Egypt.
The cultivated area with tomamto was 371000 feddans producing 4234000 tons with an average yield of 11.4 tons/fed. And 41000 feddens for eggplant producing 385000 tons with an average yield of 9.39 tons/fed. In 1990. Such low yields are usually followed by 30-50% losses during trait and marketing due to poor post harvest handling.
Yield of tomato and eggplant should be improved through high yielding varieties and suitable cultable cultural practices.
Strong and health transplants are always essential for the production of heavy yield of high quality crops. For this reason, great care should be experienced in choice the source of transplants supply.

Cultural methods must be adjusted, an mjoor details to the requirements of inoividual crops and may be to promote the special development of one part of the plant, root , leaves or fruits for example, favourable soil condition are of great importance in all plants growing and a larg production of cultivated work consists of providing for the needs of the plant roots.
