Abstract
There are very little genital studies have been made karkade. Therefore, this study is directed to investigate the nature heterosis and types of genetic effects associated with it. The results that could be followed to improve economic traits of karkade. In this study,six different varieties of karakade Hibiscus sabdariffa L. were utilized in a complete diallel crosses mating system to generate experimental population of F1 hybrids and F1r recipocal hybrids. These varieties were Japanese-3, White yellow, Dark red, whight red, Egyption and Sudanese. Thus, The genetic materials included the six parents, 15 F1 hybrids and F1r reciprocal hybrids. In 1981 growing season, all genotypes were evaluated for several traits. The objective of this investigation were primelly aimed to detrermine the amount of heterosis, general combing ability, specific combing ability, heretability and other gentic parameters. The results of this study could be summarized as follows : A. performance of parents and F1 hybrids : 1- Testes of significance indicated that the main square of genotypes for most traits were significant .
