Abstract Renal allograft recipients exhibit remarkable susceptibility to infections involving opportunistic organisms. The incidence of infec-tion in renal transplant patient is directly related to the net immu-nosuppressive effect achieved and the time duration over which this therapy is administered. Chemotaxis, phagocytosis and intracelluar killing are the important functions of polymorphonuclear leucocytes (PMNS)in protection against invasive agents. |
