Abstract Schistosomiasis is a chronic and dedilitating disease affecting 200 to 300 million people in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. It is the most important endemic infectious disease in Egypt. Altough the recent oral treatment and the mass treatment schedules have decreased the burden of infection, there is still substantial population that suffers from the complications of schistosomal hepatic fibrosis. |
