Abstract
Fishes relating to the family cichlidae have great economic impotance since they are known to be one of the most valuable protein resources. Most of the species included in this family can survive in polluted water which may affect the genetic material of these fishes particularly if this poution results from the presence of heavy metals, agrochemicals or insecticides.
