Abstract

Process Management is focused on managing work processes that consist of, at least in part, tasks performed by humans. Process management assumes and requires manual intervention throughout a work process. Since manual tasks cannot be fully automated, process management tools focus on improving the overall work process by adding rules and notifications between tasks. While Data management automates processes that consist of various application jobs connected together with dependency logic. The data management tool runs the jobs and the dependency logic is enforced without any human intervention. Another advantage of process management is that it is used by organizations to improve end-to-end business processes. While Data Management automates known processes, often without much initial analysis to determine whether the processes are good, bad or indifferent. QAPMS serves as a supervisory system that controls workflow in university quality assurance center. The supervisory aspect of QAPMS provides the abilities to monitor, control, and improve quality assurance processes. Process owners can obtain statistics such as the wait time before a task is performed and cost data. To help quality assurance team in planning and process design, using the process designer the admin can design the initial plans which will be enhanced and optimized through the monitoring process. The QAPMS will give the quality assurance team the ability to implement real-time process improvement without extensive process conversion effort. The original quality plans are already exist in process designer. Then, when there is a need for process improvement the quality team will be able to set a new process by modifying the schedule of tasks execution or add/remove tasks from the process. Using QAPMS process improvement could be made without disruption to process output which is very useful to continuous improvements. Evaluation of QAPMS against three known open source system has resulted some progress in the characteristic evaluation like interoperability, security, and memory usage. On the other hand, the functionality evaluation resulted that QAPMS is supporting two levels of patterns: (1) Control flow pattern, QAMPS has constructs that implement the behaviors for the sequence, parallel split and exclusive choice patterns. And because the model is block structured, the closing tags provide the semantics for the synchronization and simple merge patterns. (2) Data pattern, the system supports data visibility because all data elements are globally accessible throughout a process instance, also the system supports internal and external interactions. SOA approach provides integration with university systems because the client which communicates with the services, is independent of the services itself. It does not have to know about the platform, the services run on, or the programming language they are written in; which provides more scalability and transparency of the system. Furthermore it speeds up the application development process and systems become more adaptable.
