Abstract

This study was carried out on 2342 cattle from two different farms located at Dakahlia and Dameitta governorates were examined clinically for signs of BVD infection, 124 out of 2342 examined (5.29%) suffer from, fever, diarrhea. , respiratory manifestation, infertility troubles and congenital anomalies. Buffy coat samples (44) and serum samples (80) were collected from 124 diseased animals for virus isolation and screening of antibody titer against BVD infection. And tissue samples collected from on dead calf with congenital anomalies for histopathological examination and virus isolation There was a significant variation at P < 0.01 in the prevalence of BVD infection at different ages thus, the higher rate of virus isolation observed in age < 2 months and in age >1 year, the higher virus isolation observed in summer season in which 30 isolates isolated from 32 buffy coat samples. On identification of virus isolates using FAT, in buffy coat samples 36 samples out of 44 examined samples were positive for FAT and 8 samples were negative (18.18%), on the other hand from 36 samples positive by FAT, 20 samples are cytopathic BVDV and 16 samples are non cytopathic BVDV. In control of BVD we use pneumo-3 vaccine with anumber of immunostimulant in five groups of calves each group was 3 calves. The antibody titer against BVD virus in vaccinated calves reach peak of its level at 2 month from first injection. The higher level of antibody titer against BVD virus in vaccinated calves observed in group 4 which administered Pneumo-3+Levamisole Hcl+ Vitamin E and selenium. Cellular apoptotic lymphocytes index detected by Giemsa and A.O are parallel. The apoptosis was found to be higher in Group 2 and lower in Group 3 but no significant difference between either Group 1 and Group 2 , Agarose gel electrophoresis for DNA of apoptotic lymphocytes showed fragmentation of DNA.
