Abstract In this work, 24 mature female rabbits were divided into 3 groups, 8 animals each. Each rabbit was approximately 4.5 months old and weighing 2-2.5 kg. The animals were used to detect the presence of testosterone in their plasma as well as the origin of testosterone. Plasma testosterone concentration was determined by RIA technique using spectra, direct testosterone (125 I) coated tube radioimmunoassay kits, purchased from farms diagnostica farms group LTD, oulunsala, finland. Group I of the rabbits was used for determination of plasma concentration of (T) before and after injection of Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in a dose of 1000 IU through marginal ear vein for induction of ovulation. Results of this study revealed that in intact female rabbits the average plasma (T) level was 0.129+- 0.011 ng/100ml. |
