Abstract
An experimental study was carried out to detect the effect of L-glutamine on the expression of the Insulin like growth factor-1 during oral mucosal wound healing. An 11 blade was used to create the wound and the experimental group was given oral L-glutamine dissolved in normal saline with the dose of 1gm \kg body weight using the gastric tube for 24 days. The results showed faster and more regular healing in the group that received L-glutamine while the immunohistochemical results showed that the Insulin Like Growth Factor-1 expression increased in the group that received L- glutamine more than the other groups wich indicated the effect of insulin like growth factor-1 on oral mucosal wound healing.
