Abstract Vitiligo is an idiopathic amelanoderma characterised olini6ally by evolving chalk-white macules, resulting from gradual destruction of melanocytes. The depigmented skin is normal in all other aspects. Up till now, no specific or constant biological marker is characteristic for vitiligo. As striking relationship have been found between HLA-antigens and various diseasesp the present study was undertaken to look for an association between vitiligo and the presence or absence of these antigens, and to detect any possible correlation between them. 40 patients of vitiligo were randomly selected from the outpatient clinic of Dermatology and Venerology Department of Mansoura University HosPital, of different ages and different degrees of severity. They were exposed to the following : *Thorough history. *Clinical examination. *Routine laboratory investigations : =Urine and stool analysis. =Blood picture. =Post prandial blood glucose. |
