Abstract

The present search was conducted during the twsuccessive seasons of 2006 / 2007 and 2007 / 2008 at the Experimental Farm in Baramoon, Horticultural Research Station Dakahlya Governorate, to study the effect of chemical , organic and biofertilizers as well as their interactions on the vegetative growth , essential oil productively and chemical composition Majorana hortensis Moench. plants. Seeds of marjoram wich was obtained from Aromatic and Medical Research section were sown in prepared nursery beds on November 15th and the seedlings were transplanted after 80 days from sowing , in both seasons. The treatments were conducted as follows : 1. Full dose of NPK (control). 2. 12m³ / fed of poultry manure. 3. 18m³ / fed of poultry manure. 4. 24m³ / fed of poultry manure. 5. 12m³ / fed of cattle manure. 6. 18m³ / fed of cattle manure. 7. 24m³ / fed of cattle manure. 8. (EM1) 1cm³ / l foliar spraying one time. 9. (EM1) 1cm³ / l foliar spraying one twice. 10. (EM1) 1cm³ / l foliar spraying three times. 11. 18m³ / fed poultry manure + 18m³ / fed cattle manure. 12. 18m³ / fed poultry manure + (EM1) 1cm³ / l foliar spraying one time. 13. 18m³ / fed cattle manure × (EM1) 1cm³ / l foliar spraying one time. 14. 18m³ / fed poultry manure × 18m³ / fed cattle manure + (EM1) 1cm³ / l foliar spraying one time. The full dose of NPK was a mixture of ammonium sulphate (20.5% N) , calcium superphosphate (15.5% P2 O5) and potassium sulphate (48% K2O) at the rates of 300 , 150 and 75kg / fed. , as a recommended dose of Agricultural Ministry in Egypt. Chemical fertilizers were applied at three equal doses every season , the first was added 21 days after transplanting , the second and the third ones were added when the new leaves appeared after cutting of plants. Biofertilizer was a recent mixture of effective microorganisms called (EM1) which was obtained from Agricultural Ministry in Cairo. The (EM1) was foliar sprayed at 1cm³ / l. three times as the treatments conducted the experimented design in both seasons. According to the results of the present study , it could be concluded that the best herb yield of Majorana hortensis Moench plants containg the highest essential oil percentage and essential oil productivity per feddan was pbtained from the interaction between poultry manure 18m³/fed +cattle manure 18m³/fed . Followed by foliar sparing (EM1) at deferent applications (1 cm³/l at once , twice or three times of foliar sparing ) The author prefers foliar spraying (EM1)1cm³/l three time , to obtaind the best measurements of production for herb and essential oil of marjoram plants , such as (EM1)is considered a recent biofertilizer and it is more safety to protect ecology and environmental conditions from pollution and on other hand realize more benefits for producers .
