Abstract

Retinal venous occlusive disease is the second leading cause of permanent retinal vascular blindness. It commonly affects men and women equally and occurs predominantly in persons over the age of 65 year, There is no known effective medical treatment for retinal vein occlusion . Corticosteroids , anticogulants , thrombolytic agents and reduction of intraocular pressure are unproven in their efficacy , as these medical methods doesn’t interfere with the pathogenesis of retinal vein occlusion . The aim of the work: To review the different surgical techniques used for the treatment of retinal venous occlusive diseases describing its results and complications. Conclusion : The surgical methods may give a good solution but not a magic one in management of retinal vein occlusion. Still they need some progress to become safer and more effective.
